Arnold Schwarzenegger Quotes Bodybuilding

1. Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet and mental approach.

2. Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.

3. I know a lot of athletes and models are written off as just bodies. I never felt used for my body.

4. When I was 15-years-old, I took off my clothes and looked in the mirror. When I stared at myself naked, I realized that to be perfectly proportioned I would need twenty-inch arms to match the rest of me.

5. The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else. I hate that.

6. Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

7. My body is like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I don't think about it, I just have it.

8. The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

9. Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body.

10. It's simple. If it jiggles, it's fat.

11. I knew I was a winner back in the late sixties. I knew I was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way. I hope it never will.

12. When I was ten years old I got this thing that I wanted to be the best in something, so I started swimming. I won championships, but I felt I couldn't be the best. I tried skiing, but there I felt I didn't have potential. I played soccer, but I didn't like that to well because there I didn't get the credit alone if I did something special. I just avoided team sports from then on. Then I started lifting through the other sports and I enjoyed it the most. I won the Austrian championship in 1964 but found out I was too tall. So I quit that and went into body building. Two years later I found out that that's it-that's what I can be the best in.

13. The only way to be a champion is by going through these forced reps and the torture and pain. That's why I call it the torture routine. Because it's like forced torture. Torturing my body. What helps me is to think of this pain as pleasure. Pain make me grow. Growing is what I want. Therefore, for me pain is pleasure. And so when I am experiencing pain I'm in heaven. It's great. People suggest this is masochistic. But they're wrong. I like pain for a particular reason. I don't like needle's stuck in my arm. But I do like the pain that is necessary to be a champion.

14. A beginner does eight repetitions of a certain exercise with his maximum weight on the barbell. As soon as it hurts, he thinks about stopping. I work beyond this point, which means I tell my mind that as soon as it starts aching it is growing. Growing is something unusual for the body when you are over eighteen. The body isn't used to ten, eleven, or twelve reps with a maximum weight. Then I do ten or fifteen sets of this in a row. No human body was ever prepared for this and suddenly it is making itself grow to handle this new challenge, growing through this pain area. Experiencing this pain in my muscles and aching and going on is my challenge. The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens. I have no fear of fainting. I do squats until I fall over and pass out. So what? It's not going to kill me. I wake up five minutes later and I'm OK. A lot of other athletes are afraid of this. So they don't pass out. They don't go on.

15. If you want to be a champion you can't have any kind of outside negative coming in to affect you. So I trained myself for that. To be totally cold and not have things going through my mind. And it was a sad story when my father died. Because me mother called me on the phone and she said: "You know, your dad died." And this was exactly two months before a contest. "Are you coming home for the funeral?" She said. I said: "No. It's too late. He's dead and nothing can be done. I'm sorry I can't come." And I didn't explain the reasons why, because how do you explain to a mother whose husband died, you just can't be bothered now because of a contest?

16. I can hide my feelings under my muscles. Definitely. I can hide them as long as necessary. And when I feel they can come out, I let them out. I think this is fantastic. It's great to have control over my mind. Other people get mixed up. They can't control themselves. They can't go to work for a week or they can't talk on the phone because they're crying. I can switch myself back and forth. When I'm training for a competition, I can be what some people call inhuman, but really I think it's more like being superhuman. Then after the competition, I can switch off again be human and very emotional and so on.

17. Not many people understand what a pump is. It must be experienced to be understood. It is the greatest feeling that I get. I search for this pump because it means that that my muscles will grow when I get it. I get a pump when the blood is running into my muscles. They become really tight with blood. Like the skin is going to explode any minute. It’s like someone putting air in my muscles. It blows up. It feels fantastic.

18. Body building should be fun because you get a feeling of satisfaction which is very hard to explain. A body builder knows when he pumps up his muscles it means growth. The muscles grow. So therefore he knows when he pumps up well, that is progress. And that satisfies him because he feels the progress in his body. Therefore the pump feels good. It's actually the best feeling a body builder can have. It's a difficult thing to explain. Like sometimes we joke around and we get a good pump and we say you have to admit that a good pump is better than coming. Somebody off the street wouldn't understand that, but sometimes a pump is the best feeling you can have.

19. My definition of a sport is that it's a physical activity that involves competition. Since bodybuilders train and then compete, we are certainly a sport. The unique thing about bodybuilding is that when I compete, it is just me on a stage alone. There is no field, no bat, no ball, no skis, no skates. All other athletes have to use equipment, like a football. As soon as the football if thrown, where does the eye go? To the football. But I don't use anything in competition except myself. It's just me up there. Me alone. No coach. No nothing.

20. I think the public thinks I am narcissistic because I look in the mirror. What they don't understand is that is the only way I can check my progress. How do I know that my muscles grow the way that I want? By flexing them and checking them in the mirror, by measuring them with a tape or possibly by stepping on a scale. The mirror is by far the best because I can see each muscle's definition. That is very subtle. Sometimes even another bodybuilder cannot see what I can. A swimmer uses a stopwatch like a mirror. A jumper's tape is his mirror. But the public is weirdly afraid of themselves. They are guilty about the mirror. They think by looking in it there's something wrong. How many mirrors are there in America?

21. You don't really see a muscle as a part of you, in a way. You see it as a thing. You look at it as a thing and you say well this thing has to be built a little longer, the bicep has to be longer; or the tricep has to be thicker here in the elbow area. And you look at it and it doesn't even seem to belong to you. Like a sculpture. Then after looking at it a sculptor goes in with his thing and works a little bit, and you do maybe then some extra forced reps to get this lower part out. You form it. Just like a sculpture.

22. What I'm doing is the thing I want to do. I don't care what other people think. If the rest of disagrees and says I shouldn't waste my time, I still will be a bodybuilder. I love it. I love the feeling in my muscles, I love the competition, and I love the things it gives me. I have never really had to work in my whole life. I've never had an eight to six job. I've always made good money. I've traveled all over the world competing and giving exhibitions. I've made a profession out of a pastime, which perhaps only five percent of the population can do. The other ninety-five percent are frustrated office workers, working for someone else. I'm totally independent. So, I…feel…if I would live again or if I would be born again, I would do exactly the same thing.

23. The better you get, the less you run around showing off as a muscle guy. You know, you wear regular shirts, loose shirts-not always trying to show what you have. You talk less about it. It's like you have a little BMW-you want to race the hell out of this car, because you know it's going 110. But if you see a guy in a Ferrari or Lamborghini, they slide around at 60 on the freeway because they know if they press on that accelerator they are going to go 170. These things are the same in every field.

24. There are some girls that are turned on by my body, and some others who are turned off. But for the majority I just use it as a conversation piece. Like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd street would have a natural conversation piece. Then when they get to talking to me they see I am not mean but gentle to them and that's all they want to know.

25. I have a good sense of my body in a bathing suit around people who appreciate what I'm doing, like a contest. Then I'm proud. On television I am proud. But on a beach most people are not experts. The general public doesn't know how to look. How proud can you be when they don't even know what they're looking at?

26. I don't have any weak points. I had weak points three years ago, but my main thing in mind is, my goal always was, to even out everything to the point... that everything is perfect. Which means if I want to increase one muscle a half inch, the rest of the body has to increase. I would never make one muscle increase or decrease, because everything fits together now, and all I have to do is get my posing routine down more perfect, which is almost impossible to do, you know. It's perfect already.

27. The greatest feeling you can get in a gym or the most satisfying feeling you can get in the gym is the pump. Let's say you train your biceps, blood is rushing in to your muscles and that's what we call the pump. Your muscles get a really tight feeling like your skin is going to explode any minute and its really tight and its like someone is blowing air into your muscle and it just blows up and it feels different, it feels fantastic. It's as satisfying to me as cumming is, you know, as in having sex with a woman and cumming. So can you believe how much I am in heaven? I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven.

28. Good things don't happen by coincidence. Every dream carries with it certain risks, especially the risk of failure. But I am not stopped by risks. Suppose a great person takes the risk and fails. Then the person must try again. You cannot fail forever. If you try ten times, you have a better chance of making it on the eleventh try than if you didn't try at all.

29. As a kid I always idolized the winning athletes. It is one thing to idolize heroes. It is quite another to visualize yourself in their place. When I saw great people, I said to myself: "I can be there."

30. For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.

Lady Gaga "Body Revolution": Bulimia And Anorexia Battle

Lady Gaga has begun her own "body revolution."

On
Tuesday (September 25), Mother Monster launched a page titled "A Body Revolution 2013" on her Little Monsters site, encouraging fans to embrace and share their flaws. For that reason she shared a somber photo of herself wearing yellow lingerie via her Little Monsters website. "Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15," Gaga wrote in the caption.

The revelation came on the heels of Gaga's recent radio interview with Elvis Duran, in which she admitted to being on a diet "because I gained, liked, 25 pounds" during her five weeks off between tour dates.

At the time, the Grammy winner insisted she didn't "feel bad about" putting on a few extra pounds. "Not even for a second."

"I have to be on such a strict diet constantly," Gaga explained. "It's hard because it's a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don't like that. So I'm trying to find a new balance."

It has to be noted that Gaga shared some words of wisdom from Marilyn Monroe via Twitter on September 22: "To all the girls who think you're ugly because you're not a size 0, you're the beautiful ones. It's society who's ugly," Mother Monster tweeted. Gaga then added: "Thank you to my fans who love me no matter what and know the meaning of real beauty and compassion. I really love you."

It has to be mentioned that months earlier Elton John, 65, claimed he was really worried about his friend's skinny frame. "She is frail, and she doesn't eat when she should," John quoted as saying. "I know how tiny she is and I do worry about her, yes."

"My mother and I created the BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION for one reason: "to inspire bravery," Gaga stated on the site. "This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your "perceived flaws," as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous." In another post, Mother Monnster wrote: "Now that the body revolution has begun, be brave and post a photo of you that celebrates your triumph over insecurities."

Needless to say that fans have already flooded the site with personal images, which Gaga herself has been captioning. In one, a fan is looking at herself in the mirror with her stomach exposed. "Emily Rose recovering from anorexia. We support your bravery and have compassion for your pain," Gaga wrote encouragingly. "(and huh gUUrl, you don't need to diet ur FINE AS HELL.)"

But fans aren't only posting photos... Thousands have already commented on the website, thanking Gaga for sharing her battles and giving them an outlet to share their own insecurities. "You give us the strength to take the parts we are supposed to be ashamed of and make them into our pride," Vernoika commented. "Thank you so much for always believing in us and trusting us enough to let us in on your personal life and struggles."

Not long before launching the initiative, Gaga reached out to her fans in a separate post, explaining that they were the sole inspiration behind A Body Revolution 2013. She also addressed her constant battle with her weight and revealed she's happier than ever with her body. "I have been startled and overwhelmed with pride and emotion the past few days. Gratitude mostly. Seeing you post photos of things on your bodies and in your minds that you feel society tells you you should be ashamed of. You are showing them you have no shame," Gaga wrote.

"My weight/loss/gain since I was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have," Gaga revealed. "My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when i eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I'm happy. Happier then I've ever been. i am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And i love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well."

The question is: What do you think of Gaga's "Body Revolution campaign"?

14-Year-Old Radio Host: " Homosexuality Is A Choice No Matter What Lady Gaga and Obama Says"

14-year-old radio talk show host , Caiden Cowger , blasts homosexuality as a choice people make "no matter what Lady Gaga says."

Caiden Cowger states the homosexuality "problem" is out of control in his state of West Virginia. 30 kids in his county- many of whom grew up with him-  have chosen to be gay.

Cowger claims that Obama and Biden are both personally responsible for turning people gay.

The kid is doing West Virginia obviously no favors.

No one can make you gay. You are gay because you are born this way! It's not a choice! What is wrong with being who you truly are? I give him the benefit of being so young...Hope this kid won't turn out a racist in the future!

Watch the video below in order to hear Cowger's opinion about  homosexuality.

Maria Menounos Weight Loss

Maria Menounos never had a weight problem until 15 years ago, when the then 17-year-old gained the freshman 40 (nearly three times what most freshmen gain). Maria realized she had a problem when her relatives began making unflattering comments such as "You want to be on TV looking like that?"

In other words, if the former Miss Massachusetts Teen USA didn't get back to pageant weight, her career was past! Unfortunately, her immediate solution, reaching for comfort food to deal with the discomfort of the situation, only made things worse.

For those who are not familiar with Maria Menounos, it has to be mentioned that Maria not only made it to the little screen ( she's a correspondent for "Access Hollywood" and "Today") , she's taken to the big screen in movies like "The Fantastic Four."That's quite an accomplishment!

Looking back, Menounos reveals her weight problem sprouted in high school when she got a job at Dunkin' Donuts, but really blossomed in college.

"The problem was I grew up eating super-healthy,"Maria explains. "My dad had Type I diabetes, and we never had sweets in the house."

Menounos took control of her eating when she started paying closer attention to portion sizes. That and her other winning weight-loss strategies are surely no secret( they're all over the media ) but here's her secret in a nutshell: no foods are off limits as long as you feed yourself a steady, but modest diet of nutritious, delicious food.

Maria Menounos explains in her book (it became a bestseller!) how she got back to a healthy 125-130 pounds by setting goals, keeping food logs and celebrating successes.

"Love your body," Maria claims. "Focus on your health, not your body's flaws!"

"It's not about being skinny, it's about being healthy!" Maria adds.

The question is:" How Maria Menounos managed to go from
from a size 14 college student to the size 4 television personality she is today?"

Answer: Chili peppers, hot sauce, vinegar, grapefruit and lots of water.

In the Fitness magazine article, Menounos, a former Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, stated she started gaining weight when she went away to Emerson College in Boston. Highly competitive, she challenged boys to eating contests and fell into a high-carb "dorm diet" built around popular college food groups: pizza and French fries.

Within two years, Menounos had gained 40 pounds. Pictures of her from that time show a young woman with a full figure, but hardly what anyone would call fat. Still, the weight felt uncomfortable on Menounos’ 5-foot-8 frame. She also knew that she wanted to enter into the entertainment business.

"All it really took was a dedication to making better choices," Maria Menounos quoted as saying. "I didn’t consider myself to be on a diet. I never thought about a diet. I never weighed myself. I just started to cut back on everything that I was eating that was bad."

Just to mention that Maria Menounos lost the first 20 pounds in about five months all by herself!

"I worked on everything I ate for a week – every single thing," Maria explained. "I realized, "OK, my problem is carbs." So I started to cut back on my carbs and started replacing (them) with better food. I ate a grapefruit in the morning. I had heard that grapefruit burns fat, so it was the first thing I would eat. I ate a lot of spicy peppers and jalapenos and a lot of vinegar, which I already loved anyhow, because I also heard that burns fat."

It is well known that chili peppers and spicy food actually contain a component called capsaicin, which is found to suppress appetite and actually boost your metabolism so you burn more calories. Though grapefruit doesn’t actually burn fat, it contains a lot of water, which tends to fill you up so you aren’t as hungry.

The other smart thing Menounos did was to keep a gallon of drinking water with slices of fresh lemon in it in the refrigerator. Often, when people think they’re hungry, they’re really just thirsty. Drinking plenty of water fills the stomach. So, you don't feel hungry.

Another great thing about drinking plenty of water is that you don’t get used to drinking diet soda and soft drinks, because then you actually get used to that sugary taste and then your body starts craving those sugary calories.

After losing the first 20 pounds, Menounos realized she needed help from an expert to get the next 20 off. So, she paid $55 for one session with a personal trainer, who gave her a thrice-weekly workout routine that included both strength and cardiovascular exercises.

"Additionally, she runs on the treadmill, plays basketball with the Access Hollywood crew and works out with a trainer when she's home and does squats when she's on the phone," according to Fitness magazine.

Menounos revealed that she doesn’t deny herself treats. But when she indulges, she makes up for it.

"I think it’s a balance," Maria declared. "I definitely don’t deprive myself. I eat whatever I want, but in smaller portions. Then if I have a bad weekend, like I did this weekend, I’m going to make sure that the rest of this week I have fresh salads with fresh chicken on it — very healthy choices."

"So I get to eat what I want, but when I have what I want and it’s not good, I make sure I make some better choices for the next couple days." Maria added.

Maria Menounos , apart from eating healthily, she also works out a  lot!

"I hired her ( personal trainer ) for one session, and she wrote out for me a general circuit program of jump rope, steps, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and lunges," Menounos declares, who also put in up to 45 minutes four times a week on the elliptical. "In fact, I still have the piece of paper in case I ever regain the weight."

It has to be mentioned that Maria Menounos recently took up Krav Maga, an Israeli martial art. "I started it last year when I was preparing to go to Iraq. I wanted to be able to defend myself if I needed to, God forbid," Menounos claims. "But what I found was that it's the best overall workout I've ever experienced. It's cardio. It's strength. It's reflexes. It's everything."

Additionally, Maria runs on the treadmill, plays basketball with the Access Hollywood gang, works out with a trainer when she's home, and does squats when she's on the phone. "I squeeze things in every which way I can," Maria says.

"I eat a lot of chicken and tuna wraps, which are pretty quick to prepare. But when I have no time, I'll grab a slice of pizza," Maria Menounos reveals.

"If I indulge, though, I'll balance things out by switching to salad and fruit for the next meal." Maria adds.

Wanna know Maria's favourite weight loss tip?

"I've started drinking hot water all day, and I've lost about 12 pounds. It's detoxifying, it helps you digest and it curbs your appetite." Maria reveals.

How do you find Maria's weight loss tips?

Rihanna's Dad Fears About Rihanna Ending Up Like Whitney Houston

It’s no secret that Rihanna enjoys her bad girl image and revels in shocking her fans with her provocative behavior. Those close to Rihanna fear that her eccentric and at times outrageous behavior will lead to a tragic end.

According to the British newspaper "The Sun" Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, reveals that from a young age she was obsessed with Whitney Houston, the troubled diva who lived a life destroyed by drugs and died a tragic drug-induced death back in February.

It’s true that Rihanna’s recent wild behavior has led to numerous comparisons to Whitney Houston in the press and her recent controversy at Coachella really started a firestorm. As CDL previously reported, Rihanna was photographed sitting on her handler’s shoulders and she appeared to be doing cocaine off the top of his head. At least that was what she wanted us to consider…

In typical fashion, Rihanna took to her Twitter to address the drama in a typically unapologetic manner: "I’m crazy and I don’t pretend to be anything else."

There are in fact many similarities, both good and bad, between Rihanna and Houston.

The obvious similarities are leading to widespread speculation that Rihanna could portray Houston on the big screen. Rihanna herself has stated the following:

"If I was going to do a biopic, it would have to be someone I admire and she is definitely one of those."

"That would be something I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off."

Houston’s friend Malik Pointer commented on the similarities of both singers:

"Rihanna is basically Whitney 2.0. That kind of talent only comes around every 20 years or so. They sing like angels and they have faces of angels — so even without the talent they would have people eating out of their hands."

"We’re talking about two of the greatest talents in the history of female vocalists. Add to that addiction, or at least a love of partying, and it’s a recipe for disaster."

"Rihanna is a wild child. She has the voice of an angel but she can get down and dirty. But she has youth on her side. There’s a chance she’s just getting it out of her system and she’ll find the right guy and settle down by the time she’s 30."

Rihanna’s father believes his daughter would grab the part if it was offered to her:

"She used to love Whitney. Robyn would always sing along to I Will Always Love You."

"She admired Whitney because of her range, her voice, her appearance, her personality — everything. She loved Whitney so much she would be honored to play her. I think she would accept in a heartbeat."

Fenty hopes his daughter is clever enough not to end up like her mentor –with a life cut short.

Do you think Rihanna will end up like Whitney Houston or is she simply having a ball?
