Just in case you wonder: "Is Gwyneth Paltrow Jewish?", the truth is that Paltrow is not Jewish.
To be more exact, American actress Gwyneth Paltrow (full name: Gwyneth Kate Paltrow Martin) was born in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and the late film producer/director Bruce Paltrow. Her father was Jewish (of Belarusian Ashkenazi origin) and her mother is a Quaker of Pennsylvania Dutch and more distant white Barbadian ancestry. Paltrow's paternal great-great-grandfather, whose surname was "Paltrowicz," was a rabbi in Nowogród, Poland.
When Paltrow, 40, became a mother, she had revealed in 2011 she wanted to raise her children in the Jewish faith, following an appearance on the ancestry programme "Who Do You Think You Are?"
It has to be mentioned that Paltrow was moved to find out earlier in 2011 that her family came from a long line of influential East European rabbis.
Paltrow publicly stated on an event hosted by Jewish charity the "Community Security Trust" that this has inspired her to raise her daughter Apple, 7, and son Moses, 5, in a Jewish environment.
In 2010 Paltrow revealed that she was raised as both Jewish and Christian.
"It was such a nice way to grow up," Paltrow was quoted as saying, but then added: "I don't believe in religion. I believe in spirituality. Religion is the cause of all the problems in the world." (Paltrow studies the Kabbalah)
According to the Jewish law the religion passes through the matriarchal line. This means that Gwyneth is not considered a real Jew in religious law as her mother is Christian.
Conclusion: Gwyneth Paltrow is not Jewish.
